the last week!

This day is already turning out AMAZING... I got to sleep in till 8 & my hot chocolate and snapple were FREE...
on the downside... from the malnutrition and lack of sleep my face looks like chicken pox and my nails and fingers are looking rough, peeling and chipping...
yesterday was a pretty good day... we did customer service training... we learned to make and shake the drinks we will be selling on the plane and got to drink them all. you know i’m a fan... except me and vodka aren’t friends... oh well. i also found out i get to see my best friend from nashville on TUESDAY! yay!
it’s a good week in atlanta... minus my appearance. :)
Today is an easy test and then International training for the next 2 days... then sleeping, an easy flight, more sleeping and studying... then final, then hands on final, then graduation.... then the clusterhell of everything to follow.
I keep headin over to the restaurant/bar across the street and everyone remembers me and asks me how my tests are that i studied for the night before and they are so encouraging and rooting me and my friends along the way. so cute... even my coffee shop folks talk to me everyday encouraging me... i’ve met some really nice people here... but I still can’t wait to leave... not cause of the people... just cause im ready for sleep and no more testing! haha
I’m ready to start designing again and see my cats and wear different clothes besides the few that I brought with me...
I’m excited to start flying and walking through the concourse like I own the place and traveling all over to see my friends and hopefully crash on all of your couches. :)
renting out my apartment with no other place to go and no more car payments, gas, or car insurance, no water bill, electricity... yea... I’m excited. I need to invest in a few things to make my life easier in my new lifestyle...
anyways... i posted an overview of my april schedule (just an overview to keep the stalkers guessin)... i will try and keep this updated so you can see if i’m coming your way...

Week FOUR!!!

I’m getting closer to the end... THANK the LORD!
I have a test today and a mid-term tomorrow... after my flight Saturday night I feel completely confident. Our flight was one of the lucky ones that actually got to leave the airport... some of my classmates have to reschedule until Tuesday... others almost had to use their emergency evacuation procedures... Our flight was delayed 3 hours and we had to sit in the airplane while hail hit the plane and while we got drilled by our OE instructor... I have never sweat so much. (is that TMI?)

We all passed our tests and we took turns helping out in the plane... I did first class on the way to Dallas... It baffles me why people pay soo much for first class on such a short trip. so weird. ANYWAYS... then we had a 20 minute layover in Dallas which consisted of us cussing at the food court places in our heads because everything was closed and we were huuungry... I’m so sick of eating vending machine food for lunch & dinner. So pretzels and snickers for dinner again... I worked coach on the way back and one girl read the safety demo while we did the presentation but the funnies thing ever... where I almost peed my pants in front of 150 passengers was when she went to go sit on the jumpseat to read... she pulled down the seat but not quite enough so it snapped back up making a loud noise while she fell on the floor. DANG. It was so funny... I was impressed cause she laughed and composed herself enough to get back up and read the demo. wow. We got back to Atlanta around midnight. WHEW.

Sunday I slept in off and on until about 3... glorious. I finally got to talk to my mom... who sounded great! My little sister and her boyfriend are there now and got there safely. My mom had her surgery last week and just now can stand on her feet but only with crutches... they are gonna watch her for 2 weeks and then see about operating the other leg. I pray this works... cause she is so active and she is way too young to not be able to walk. So your prayers are much appreciated for her recovery and her second surgery.

Like I said before... I was so tired of eating vending machine food that I finally had to con the class player into buying me dinner... steak and baked potatoes never tasted so good. Then headed over to my other place where I conned my friend at the local restaurant/pub into dessert... I’m so happy to be a girl... hey and don’t judge... hunger makes you do crazy things :)
So I was sitting at the bar with dessert and studying my flashcards for city codes... and freaking pilots just never quit... no matter how old they are... eww. So this one sits next to me and kinda makes fun of me for thinking the city codes are hard. Basically he kinda told me I was dumb. I know only about half of the 200 and something codes... so he asked me to test him... hell if he didnt know even one of them. JERK. That made me smile inside. Who in the world would know that NRT was for TOKYO or YYZ for Toronto?

My classmates have lost their minds when it comes to graduation tickets... I don’t need mine cause I didnt invite anyone... so I put mine up for grabs... bad idea. They’ve actually compared graduation tickets to food and water rations. These people are WEIRD. So I promised one ticket to one girl so her kids can both come... and all of a sudden I have one friend who said he wants to come from Nashville to see me graduate... so maaaaybe I will have someone there... I really don’t care... I just want someone to take pictures so I can send them to my parents. They are truly acting like they just graduated from Harvard... its a six week flight attendant program people! Yeah, its hard... but not enough to fly in people to see it! Crazy.

anyways... I have a test in a couple hours... pray i do good cause I need to bring up my average after my last city codes test. Peace out homies!

End of Week Three: Surviving

So our class has been dwindled down minus 4 students just this week... out of our graduating class I think we lost a total of 10 people so far... It’s scary because you get back from lunch and do a headcount to make sure we didnt loose another person. Apparently they warn the person in advance with write-ups but we wouldnt know anything at all until they were gone... and they go upstairs to the dorm, watch you pack your stuff and escort you off campus... DANG. This is a reality/horror show... the stress levels are INTENSE... I blew a big test but luckily my average is still up... SCARY though... very scary.

If you have seen the news then you know about the tornados last night... I’m fine... no where near it... BUT today is my first training flight and more storms are on their way... what an initiation! dang. I was supposed to drive to Augusta last night to see my boys in Sterling Y but we got out of class so late that I didn’t go... luckily because of the tornado... and my other friend was supposed to go to the game last night... which again, luckily we got out late and she didnt go because now there is a big whole in the side of that stadium. DANG.
I’m nervous... and I was also chosen as flight leader for todays flight to dallas which is a hecka lot more responsibilities... I can’t stand 1/4 of my classmates. It’s so hard to be fake nice to people who are stupid... if it was a customer, I would just walk away and have someone else wait on them... but I have to live with these dummies for 2 and a half more weeks. Frustrating.
People are all on wits end... we are tired and grumpy and class gets out late and we all want to get into it with eachother... but we know we are being watched... intensely... so... dang. I’m learning to be an actress and how to pretend to be a lady... It’s pretty much what its all about... BUT then the other part of my class is totally cool... yea we still get grumpy at eachother but all we can do is make jokes about the other 1/4th to make it through the day... mean, yes... but it works...

As far as my mom goes... she’s ok! I haven’t gotten to talk to her... she comes home from Santiago tnite... and so I will get to talk to her tmorrow I pray... My sister and her boyfriend flew down yesterday and get there tomorrow as well... so Im glad at least Bethany can take care of my mom...

That’s all I got for now... I’m gonna go study for my flight exam... check out my 4 new pictures... 2 in the 2008 album and 2 in the pictures by me section...
peace out babies. Xxoo

mass hysteria text messaging

ok... so if you have ever even met me once, then you know i’m attached to my phone by the buttons. i hate my blackberry and miss my treo and need an iphone but i’m addicted to communication no matter what the means... (hence my facebook, myspace, virb, shoutlife, gmail, etc)

you probably think you are right there with me... I only know one person who could possibly compete communication-wise with me and its my friend dj. (hi dj!)
Lets just say that cingular didnt have a plan big enough for me until recently that didnt compare to a rent payment... I saw a commercial on TV for verizon for unlimited text messages for 19.99 and went to cingular and told them i wanted to have to cut my service to switch to verizon since its unlimited because i just cannot afford them... i LOVE cingular... but I dont love anyone or thing enough to pay $500 bills each month. SO... when i threatened to leave low and behold cingular offered me the unlimited text for 19.99.... shocking! I was on a name to name basis with my cingular people in texas cause they made comments about my communication habits... and told me i need to sleep more... man... i kinda feel a little pathetic.
maybe I’ve been a little TOO good at communicating (except for emotionally, hence the failed relationships)... but I even get my gmail emails straight to my phone to keep up with clients mainly...BUT... I text and drive (yes, I am THAT girl on the road)... text and study, text and read, text and talk... I love texting! I am known for it... I am also known for weird sleep habits... so people know they can get in touch with me almost 24 hrs a day... I get text messages up to about 3 or 4 in the morning... and now that I wake up at 5:30 I get some at 5:30 too... (my favorites)... I get and send about 500 messages a day... sometimes more and sometimes less... depending on the events of the day of course.

Well unusual to normal habits I went to bed at 9pm last night. I also just turned my phone off vibrate... not OFF (cause that would be like pulling the plug on my best friend) but on silent so I could get a good night sleep. this morning when I checked my phone you would have thought that someone died by the text messages, emails, missed calls and voicemails I had... People aren’t used to my no response... They started texting... then calling and finally as a last result they left voicemails (because if you know me you know I HATE voicemails... unless they are from my one friend cause those are funny)...
the voicemails were pretty humorous but made me realize i need to control the situation maybe... there were alot of questions on the voicemail.
"why arent you responding?"
"are you mad at me?"
"what’s going on?"
"what did i do?"

seriously. seriously?! aren’t we in our mid-20’s now? i thought high-school and middle school was over... i can make fun of them because they aren’t on my myspace... :) haha
but just FYI... if I dont respond to your text right away its because I’m sleeping or taking a shower... those are the only ways I dont answer... and soon it will be because i’m flying... so dont take it so personally....
even superheros need their sleep. ;)

Week Three

I'm still alive.

barely.

It's funny because I've never lived in a college dorm before and I'm so glad that I only have to be here for 6 weeks... I love some of my classmates... but it's like a bad reality show and summer camp on steroids. Everyone is pairing off and hooking up... the drama is thick... corporate is weeding through people and sending them home one and two at a time.

I've been trying to upload the video I made of last week on myspace and youtube... it's taking FREAKING forEVER. and I'm irritated... i've been trying to upload them for 2 days now. I really want yall to see it!

I've just kinda been observing people the last week... the flight attendant and pilot thing is the most amusing... pilots are EVERYWHERE and they are such players and the flight attendants are so freakin dumb.

anyways my partner in crime is leaving school so I'm gonna lay low and just keep observing... there's so much to do anyways and when there isn't something to do... its cause im being lazy cause I have computer classes I have to take on my own time... and also audio books... which im so addicted to right now... because who gets to say they "read" a whole book before 9am everyday?

My paypal account got hacked... which TOTALLY sucks... because now I have to confirm the account by mail because I don't have a landline phone and the mailing address is still in texas... and i can't get money out of the account... and that's kinda how i eat and pay rent... freakin freak.
it's one of those days... it's been a stressful week and its only tuesday.

We had medical training yesterday and luckily I halfway paid attention because I already had to use my training... it's confidential but probably now top 10 strangest things that have ever happened to me for sure.

Please pray for my mom... she is having surgery this week in Chile on her hips... she's only 45 and got a weird disease... and only 3 doctors in the world do this surgery and one happens to be in Chile... so dang. I pray it works and goes successfully because she is so very active and for her to sit still is a big issue...

I have my first training flight on saturday... and I'm going to DALLAS, TEXAS! only an hour layover but still... 5 driving hours closer to chachos... sweet mecca of the "mexican" fast food. yum. I will always be measure excitement in fast food... its a wonder im not 300 lbs.

ok... one more thing about the audiobooks... if you haven't read CLAPTON yet... you better! its such an amazing book... really. i would say i was totally born in the wrong time... except for i dunno what id do without text messaging... or chachos for that matter. ;)

I can't explain the exhaustion... and its my own fault... 1) because i like to work... 2)because i actually get reborn at night and have too much energy to sleep.... its a feeling of nausea.... you can break into tears or feel like throwing up... you have to keep moving or eating to stay awake... its a big deal if you fall asleep in class and you look around at all the faces and you are not alone... everyone else looks like zombie's too... we've been wearing jeans and tennis shoes the last week and 2 days... so tomorrow when we revert back to business suits i kinda feel like we will wake up a little bit because we have to put in more effort... maybe thats a weird concept... but i think its true so far.

anyways.... i gotta get back to work... i try and write in between... and this is probably waaay more random than usual cause im distracted and keep loosing my train of thought...

love y'all... miss y'all.. xxoo

Training Day Three

Current mood: accomplished
Yesterday was a 12 hour day... not including the 2 hours spent working on myspaces prior to that. Perk Place is going to be my favorite part of the day, no doubt. Their playlist matches my itunes... minus the booty droppin hot playlist.... sigur ros is playing now. lovely.

Today is my first test. I'm not worried... and as I say that all the nerves in my body tense up and I can't feel my left arm.... heart attack?
We've already lost a few students... leaving at lunch and never came back. Wonder how many of us will graduate. I had a talk at lunch with some girls that are a few weeks ahead of me in training. They were so nice and encouraging. We sat in 4 or 5 different airplanes yesterday and played with emergency exits... those doors aren't little and they sure as heck aren't light... I'm a little girl... I'm gonna have to start pumping iron. I really thought I was stronger... whew.

I made some friends yesterday and after starving for 14 hours finally made it over to ruby tuesday for a well deserved margarita and a real meal. Salads at the speedline just aren't gonna cut it for me. I think I am making more friends since I have a car and most people here don't. haha

I found out yesterday that my friend from Texas that moved to Tennessee is now moving to NYC around the same time as me... I'm trying my best to convince my friend, Lena, to move with me as well... We can all share a Uhaul and drive up together... I'm NOT driving a Uhaul into the city. I can't wait to sell my car and get started.

Next week is Emergency Training Week... CPR, Immunizations, Evacuations Procedures and hell if I know what else. It's supposed to be your hardest week. It hit alot of us yesterday that we aren't just joining a cool job... we are in charge of saving peoples lives, dealing with puke, jerks, urinating children... and doing it with 21st century grace. Flight attendants are the epitome of a "lady"... in appearance and mannerisms. But surprisingly enough it's actually coming natural to me. Who knew there was a lady underneath it all? :) I'm actually waking up with energy at 5:30 in the morning and excited to do my hair and make up for 40 minutes... and wear a skirt, hose and heals. I look amazing! haha Sure its the first week and I will probably be so over this by Tuesday next week. Ha!

I picked up a new myspace management client and a new design client. I will give you more information soon. I can't wait until the 14th & 15th... Sterling Y is coming to GA and I will be in desperate need of RocknRoll and cute boys.
OH... which brings me to the MOST asked question by my friends and family.... NO. not all male flight attendants are gay. I saw one guy show up in a suit and tie the first day with tennis shoes on... no way a gay man would ever make that faux paux. There are about 1/3 male flight attendants and maybe out of that 1/4 are obviously gay. I'm really not sure why people think you must a gay if you are a a male flight attendant... it's a great job... why wouldnt EVERYONE want to do it?

Tomorrow I get fitted for uniform and put in my order... the uniforms are HOT. I get a $400 starting allowance and then another $150 to spend in September. I love clothing allowances. :)

Anyways... keep me in your prayers. Love Love Love--- See you soon. JulieK

*I'm starting by posting old blogs from other social sites so everyone can catch up. These are oldies but goodies. :) Enjoy!

I’m moving again!!!
Nashville is great... but I've been here over a year... I'm ready for a change... (you know me) =)
so yesterday I had an interview with the airlines in Atlanta.... and out of 50,000 applicants I happened to be chosen for the face to face interview... and out of 100 people yesterday morning at the face to face... I was one of the 17 that made it! I feel like the winner of American Idol!

SO... no, I am not moving to atlanta... (i'd rather go back to texas, no offense georgia)... I will be in atlanta for a month and a half for training but then I will be off to NEW YORK! Oh glorious day! Not sure any exact dates... or anything but I will keep you posted... I will probably be moving withing the next 2 months... and I will be needing to sell my little mustang... and probably rent out my little apartment until my friend takes over the lease in the summer.

I'm so freaking excited! For some people flight attendant jobs would keep you from your family... for me it will bring me closer to them since they are spread out all over the world! It will also help my traveling bug, and my home-sickness, wherever home might be. :) Delta flies to Chile so I'm sure I will get to go back there frequently to see my parents...

I will still be doing myspace work... so fret not my dear loving clients... I will still be your myspace empress. :)

I've been dreaming of the day when I get to give my 2 weeks notice to my horrible boss lady... the time is soon... sweet day.
