Balance

It's been almost a year since my last blog. Hi my name is Julie and I'm a blog-aholic.
I've been lazy and discouraged about blogging. I get so many mixed reviews about it but when it comes down to it this is my outlet. There is still a freedom of speech and this helps prevent me from going insane. Some of you might have missed me... maybe not... but this is my little corner.

A lot has happened and a lot hasn't really changed since last year. Still flying... still designing... still sarcastic... still everything-ing. :)

Here is a mini update this far:
I am 4 dresses away from completing my first clothing collection. I have to tweak some of the originals but for the most part I am getting close. I am so super excited about it. It's 10 black and white cocktail dresses all inspired by some of my best friends in the world.

I am still designing and working on myspaces. YES! Myspace is still going!

I'm cooking a lot. Experimenting with gardening and the world of organics. That's kind of replaced my writing in a way. I love my Saturdays in TX with Rick exploring the Farmers market and meeting the people who are growing my food.

I'm playing around with paints which I find is a good outlet even if no one ever sees them. :)

I occasionally help my parents with their ministry stuff. They just got featured in the SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS NEWS! One of the pictures I took is in there!

The rest is kind of disappointing where I thought I would be at this year. I really wanted to be far more advanced in my Hebrew lessons and already begin on my Portuguese. I'm behind in my Bible reading. I'm behind in my running. I had goals and I'm trying not to get disappointed to the point of quitting.

That's about it. Just enjoying a simple life where adventures still find me and where I am slowly finding my place.

I don't know where to begin about my adventures... a few not so blog-worthy and the rest well I'm trying to detangle them in my head so that they will make sense to you and begin to be something legible and enjoyable.

I've been in and out of Nashville lately. So fun to see some of my peoples and places. A few weeks ago we went to get my stuff out of storage on a two week road trip with my boyfriend and I've been slowly going through my stuff... things that date back to when I was born. Memories of things I've forgotten, parts of me that I've stored away. I've held on to a few treasures that have survived all the moves in my life.
I found a Raggedy Anne & Andy that my mom made for me and gave to me on my first Christmas. They are still perfectly intact and look exactly like the picture from 1983.
One of my other favorites is a framed letter that my Grandma wrote to me the day that I was born. I wish I could remember her.
Then I found lots of old pictures and papers of a life that I have tucked away in my mind so far that I could barely remember his face. It's gone now and I plan on keeping the parts of those years filed away to file thirteen and remember how strong I grew from that experience. Take the good and leave the bad. "Pain is inevitable but misery is a choice." (one of my favorite quotes)

Tuesday I was trying to get to work a day early since they predicted snow and Atlanta totally just shuts down at the mere thought of snow. They had cancelled 5 flights from SA to ATL and I was starting to get nervous. Luckily I still had 4 more flights out to try and get on. Just when I was getting to the airport a whole hour early for my flight I saw the board and it said 3:40 instead of 4:40. Totally confused with the bareness of the gatehouse and the numbers on the board I asked the gate agent. She said they moved it up an hour and had made an announcement. I was so flabbergasted as the door shut in front of me and I had no idea what was going on. I never knew they could move up a flight like that. Luckily I got on a sister airline and made it to work. I got to my little apartment and waited for one of my roommates to show up. She got here around 9 I think and when we finally got up to go eat our restaurant looked closed so we made our way to the grocery which also ended up being closed. Well on our way back I'm on the phone ordering pizza and we see a homeless man digging through the trash. Obviously we ignored him as he was talking to us. We usually never have problems but our area does have a reputation so we try to be cautious. The man starts to follow us and I start to panic while on the phone with Papa Johns. My roomie tells me quietly to keep walking to our restaurant instead of our place since we are being followed. Luckily it is open just almost empty and we make our way inside and the homeless man follows us in! One of the girls yell at him to get out and it takes him a few moments to finally leave. Kinda nerve racking. Wish I could carry pepper spray just in case. Luckily they had food and we could hide out for awhile.

Anyways, I am on call for work but had to leave today early because I came down with one of the worst migraines of my life. So I'm pent up in my crash pad and no one is home which is fine because I'm not too sociable today with the pain coming and going from between my eyes. But tomorrow is a new day and I pray that I'll be back at 100% to start up where I left off on lessons and exercising.

I hope to start picking up where I left off on project... music business-wise, sewing, painting, learning, html-ing, etc. I am on search for a fine line to balance work and pleasure. :)
